I was out camping at Wilderness Campgrounds near Dundee, which is one of my favorite campgrounds. I was alone. Not rare. And I had a little whiskey before bed. Again, not rare. But then I had the Dream.

In the Dream, I woke up in my tent at Dundee to the flickering of a large fire outside. I went out to investigate, thinking my fire might not have died out yet. I saw right away that the fire wasn’t mine, in fact, it was moving. I couldn’t see anyone, not even a shadow of the person, the clouds were covering the light of the moon. But I could hear someone moving through the tall grass. I followed what I thought must have been a torch’s light, hoping to find whoever had walked by my tent in the middle of the night. The torch disappeared through a break in the trees. I trotted quickly into the trees and out into a clearing on the other side. In the middle of that clearing, was a cabin.

The torch was stuck in the ground just in front of the cabin steps. I don’t know why in my dream I thought it was a torch, because when I actually “saw” it, it looked like a bannister post with two serpentine figures spiraling in opposite directions from top to bottom. The top of it was spread out, almost like wings.

I saw a lantern pass by one of the windows of the cabin, so I went inside. But when I got inside, there was no lantern, only a rocking chair sitting in front of a kitchen table which was obviously being used as a desk. There were papers all over the floor and an open journal on the table. I flipped through it, but all every page said was “Johanna is Kathryn is Miracle“ over and over. Then I woke up. In the woods.

I have no memory of ever sleepwalking before, and really hope it never happens again. It was easy enough to backtrack my way back to my camp, but it was still a very eerie feeling.

I very seldom remember my dreams, and what dreams I do remember have never felt this lucid.
